Self-absorbed

This is a picture, not taken, of a woman standing out of the rain, with her purchasing partner, in a small tent, and holding an open umbrella over her head, blocking anyone else without umbrellas from standing out of the torrential downpour…

Speeding and stopping

This is a picture, not taken, of an impatient driver and a rainy day, first spotted cutting into a gap for left-turns of oncoming traffic, immediately tail-gates, rides my bumper when I have to brake for a truck swerving into my lane, said driver gets onto the highway, then back off, only to wait at a red light and smoke before continuing straight, the same light I am waiting on to make a left-turn, which could have been avoided if he stayed on the highway…

Surprise bird-strike

This is a picture, not taken, during the briefest of milliseconds on a rural Hill-county road, while driving at a high rate of speed and rounding a corner, of a bird’s breast before slamming explosively onto and then off of the driver’s windshield, making me wonder about the whole ephemerality of life, and also the interrelatedness, given I had just stopped to view an eagle’s nest…

Leaking Ice Truck

This is a picture, not taken, of an older, medium-sized truck well past its prime, spruced up with a graffiti-type spray paint job boldly declaring King Ice, the truck taking its left-turn too quickly as it leaked a stream of water from multiple areas, the water quickly evaporating on a hot summer day.

Psychedelic caterpillar deja vu

These are two pictures, not taken, of a fat and hairy caterpillar, together giving a sense of Deja vu. The caterpillar was slowly undulating in a psychedelic manner, from the white highway dividing line, across my path, towards the safety of the field. Enough of them were on the road to make me question the long-term survival of their species.

Hurry up and stop

This is a picture, not taken, of a car, stuck in backed up traffic, bolting from the left lane to the middle, oddly trying to move to the right lane, but at the last second returning to the left lane, just in time to run a red light — which a police officer just happened to notice…

Coral Dragon Cloud

This is a picture, not taken, of a coral-colored dragon with dark purple on top, floating majestically in a baby-blue sky, slowly and stately keeping pace with my car as buildings, billboards, and powerlines zip in front of it, all the while the coral gradually fades into darkness and my journey ends…

Liberty Tax Countdown

This is a picture, not taken, of a man in a bright green flowing dress with spikes on his head and a torch in his hand gesticulating wildly to passing cars, imploring them to file their taxes RIGHT NOW, standing next to a big sign counting down the number of days left to his temporary job..

Tornado leaves

This is a picture, not taken, of a ordinary, everyday traffic situation: waiting for a light to turn green, when, out of the blue, the winds kick up and the skies darken as a blizzard of dead oak leaves starts swirling around my car, all tornado-like, to the point where I’m wondering if I should duck-and-cover until it blows away a few seconds later…

Different twin kids

This is a picture, not taken, of two very different little twins: the girl being conscientious, saying hello to people and stepping out of the way of an employee mopping the floor, and the boy being rambunctious, running all over the floor and accidentally pushing a display case into people.
